Objective:

I can write to explore my own views on upcoming themes and take notes to overview elements of a genre (RL 2 & 5).

Entry Task:

As you come into class, grab your notebook and a new unit tab. Once you get settled in your seat, consider the following question and be prepared to share:

You have to quickly leave your home and it is unknown if you will ever be able to return. Which are you most likely to take with you:

  1. Your phone, but no power cord

  2. A family member

  3. A book, journal, and/or drawing notebook

  4. A blanket and snack

What’s Going On:

Today we will begin our focus on our new unit starting with a discussion of the genre of our upcoming novel. Follow along with this presentation to complete your notes on Post-Apocalyptic & Dystopian Literature.

Use the video at the end of the presentation to answer the questions on your worksheet. Turn this back page into the bin, and add your notes to your notebook behind your new unit tab.

Exit Task:

To end the day, we will revisit 10 of our previous vocabulary words; these ten words will show up in our final unit. Grab a sheet off the front table and work with a partner to complete the vocabulary activity. If we have time, we will review the answers before you clean up around you.
